Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the Desi Kahaniya mobile application for Android, published by U & K Developers. It explains what information the app handles, why it is handled, and the choices available to you.

This document covers the mobile application only. It does not cover the U & K Developers website or any other product, each of which has its own policy. By installing and using the app, you agree to this policy.

2. About the App

Desi Kahaniya is a Hindi story application. It lets you browse and read written stories, listen to narrated audio stories, save items for offline use, and optionally purchase an ad-free membership.

3. What We Do Not Collect

You do not need to create an account to use the app. We do not ask for, and the app does not collect:

• Your name, email address or phone number
• Your date of birth or any government identifier
• Photographs, contacts or calendar entries
• Microphone or camera input
• Precise GPS location
• Payment card numbers or bank details

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

4. Information Collected Automatically

As with most mobile apps, a limited amount of technical information is gathered automatically by the services the app relies on:

• Usage and device analytics — general events such as app opens and screens viewed, along with device model, Android version, language and country. Collected via Google Firebase Analytics.
• Crash diagnostics — if the app stops unexpectedly, a technical report (stack trace, device model, Android version) is sent so the fault can be fixed. Collected via Firebase Crashlytics.
• Advertising identifier — a resettable device advertising ID used to deliver and measure ads.
• Notification token — an anonymous push token so new-content notifications can reach your device.
• Install count — the app records that an installation occurred so overall install numbers can be measured. This is not tied to your identity.

5. Information Kept Only on Your Device

The following is stored locally on your phone and is not uploaded by us:

• How many times you have opened the app
• Your chosen reading font and text size
• Which items you have marked as favourite or already read
• Content you download for offline use, held in the app's private storage area
• A record of your membership purchase — the Google Play purchase token, the validity period and the purchase date — so the app can tell whether your membership is still active

All of this is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data from Android settings.

6. Advertising

Free use of the app is supported by advertising supplied by Google AdMob and Meta Audience Network. These partners may use your resettable advertising ID and general device information to select and measure ads, and may show personalised ads where permitted.

You can limit this at any time on your device under Settings → Privacy → Ads, where you can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalisation. An active membership removes ads from the app.

7. Purchases & Membership

Memberships are sold and processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card number, bank details or billing address — Google handles the payment. The app stores only the purchase token and validity dates on your device so it can unlock member features and detect expiry.

8. Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app can alert you when new content is added. You can turn notifications off at any time in your Android system settings for the app, without affecting anything else.

The app relies on the providers below. Each has its own privacy policy governing the data it receives, and we recommend reviewing them:

• Google Firebase — Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Realtime Database, Firestore and Storage
• Google AdMob
• Google Play Billing and Google Play Services
• Meta Audience Network

11. Data Retention & Deletion

Analytics and crash data are retained by the relevant provider according to that provider's policy, and are used only in aggregate to understand app stability and usage. Everything the app stores locally is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.

12. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Security

Content is fetched over encrypted HTTPS connections, and your membership record is held in the app's private storage area, which other apps cannot read. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app changes or as legal requirements change. The current version always appears on this page with its date at the top. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
